Severn Valley Railway
Step back in time and experience the golden age of steam at the Severn Valley Railway. Running for around 16 miles between the historic towns of Kidderminster and Bridgnorth, this heritage railway follows the scenic valley of the River Severn.
Opened in 1862 as part of the national rail network, the line later closed in the 1960s before being lovingly restored by volunteers. Today, visitors can travel behind beautifully preserved steam and diesel locomotives while enjoying spectacular countryside views, charming country stations, and a nostalgic atmosphere.
Along the route, you can explore traditional station buildings, railway museums, cafés, and gift shops. Special events are held throughout the year, including steam galas, family days, and themed journeys that celebrate Britain’s railway heritage.
Whether you’re a railway enthusiast, a history lover, or simply looking for a relaxing day out, the Severn Valley Railway offers a unique and memorable journey through one of England’s most picturesque landscapes. 🚂🌿
